Theatre Battery Presents a Battery Powered New Works Reading:

A SCYTHE AND A SANDGLASS THE SKELETON BORE by S.W. Jones and Marlee Squires
Sunday, July 24th @ 3pm

The year is 1938. Dr. Lawrence Walton, the direct descendent of Capt. Robert Walton, has acquired his ancestor’s collected writings; the very letters and journal entries which inspired Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: A Modern Prometheus, detailing the plight of Victor Frankenstein and his uncontrollable, murderous Creature. Dr. Walton is determined to rectify the calamitous failures of Frankenstein’s original experiment using modern science and a simple concept… he will tame his Creature by re-animating a female corpse.

Content Warnings: misogyny, violence, medical horror, vomiting, and animal cruelty.

Running Time: 3 hours, with intermission

Location: Theatre Battery's Adapted stage at Kent Station: 444 Ramsay Way, Suite 107, Kent, WA 98032 (Next to Gentle Dental and a few doors down from Panera Bread)

Marlee Squires and S.W. Jones met at Cornish College of the Arts.They kicked off their playwriting partnership with an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, titled A Pond as Deep as Hell, which will be workshopped for the public at The Center Theatre this August 26th, 27th, and 28th. https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/5501431. A Scythe and a Sandglass the Skeleton Bore is their second play and first original work. Separately from this partnership, S.W. is an actor and director. Marlee is an actor and playwright, having penned a Junie B. Jones adaptation in the third grade.
